How Often Should My Teeth Be Cleaned?

Going to the dentist regularly is crucial for your health. If your teeth and gums aren’t healthy, it can have major negative consequences for your mouth and entire body. You know that good habits like brushing twice a day and flossing are important. However, only a professional dentist can catch any problems before they get serious.

Preventive Dentistry Services

Dental cleanings and exams are part of preventive dentistry. During a checkup, our professionals clean and polish your teeth, removing any hardened plaque that you can’t deal with at home. We also look for any potential issues before they become more serious and more expensive to treat. Other features of preventive dentistry include fluoride treatments and oral cancer screenings.

How Often Should You Come for a Checkup?

Most people only need to come in for a cleaning and exam every six months. If you have gum disease or a history of cavities, we might recommend more appointments. Most insurance plans cover at least two cleanings per year. If you don’t have insurance, we offer our own Dental Wellness Plan. This plan includes benefits such as two regular or periodontal cleanings, two fluoride treatments, and two exams.

Dental Anxiety?

If you get nervous during a routine cleaning and exam, please let us know. We understand that anxiety can prevent people from getting the care they need, so we offer sedation dentistry options. Talk to us about your level of anxiety and we can decide what works best based on your needs. We want you to have a completely relaxed experience.
