Dental veneers truly transform your smile. These natural-looking porcelain shells bond to your teeth, improving the color and uniformity. If you have dental imperfections you’ve always wanted to fix, veneers could be the answer. Are they permanent? What’s the process like?
How Long Do Veneers Last?
Dental veneers last upwards of 15 years, so they’re considered a permanent treatment. To stay in good shape as long as possible, they require the same care as your natural teeth. That means brushing twice a day, flossing, and using mouthwash. If you grind your teeth at night, a nightguard can provide protection. Regular appointments at Helotes Family Dentistry will also keep your smile healthy.
What Is the Dental Veneer Process Like?
If you decide to get dental veneers, we’ll first come up with a customized treatment plan. The next step is shaving off a thin layer of enamel, so the veneers sit flush against your teeth. Some shaping might be necessary, as well. Once that’s done, we’ll take impressions of your smile. Using these impressions, the lab will create your custom porcelain shells. These are bonded to your teeth.
How Much Do Veneers Cost?
The cost of veneers depends on how many shells you’re getting and how much prep your teeth need. At your initial consultation, we’ll let you know the cost of treatment so you can decide before any work is done. Even if you have dental insurance, your plan will most likely not cover cosmetic dentistry. We offer different financing options to help manage the price.
